driver problem

Hi

I have an odd problem on a dell latitude d500 laptop. Every time windows
boots up a prompt appears asking to install the driver for the hard drive.
The hard drive is a TOSHIBA MK8032GAX. Also the funny thing is that
sometimes nothing appears wrong in device manager but still it prompts for
the driver. Also working with C: and files works normal.

Can anyone suggest a workaround how to remove this prompt or install the
driver? I were unable to install it and could not find drivers specifically
for the drive either.

Thanks

Re: driver problem

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the drive device, Action
menu, "Uninstall", then Action menu, "Scan for hardware changes."

Re: driver problem

My guess would be you are having some kind of registry trouble. Is there any
indication that changes you make elsewhere are not taking either? My first
try at fixing that would be a reset of security settings. (If you can afford
to reset your sharing setup)
