Software to manage hardware items
I am in the process of replacing my scanner. Reason being. My printers appear to be interfering with my scanner's software. For example. Unless I have a complete system reload, I cannot get the 'at glance' scanning options to show on screen. This, whenever I select the scanner's green button.
Before replacing my scanner, is there any software that that can organise or seperate hardware files? This with a view of 'cutting down' or preventing together, any software issues from arising? To add more info to this matter, I have Windows SP2 Home edition, Used space is 9.78GB; free space 39GB; capacity 48.8GB. In addition to the above, I defrag my system at least once a month to prevent or cut down on software conflicts from occuring elsewhere + delete any unwanted temporary files. Although some points listed might remain irrelevant, I have decided nevertheless to furnish the above for a quick response. In particular since that I would have thought by using a mixed brand of harware items, that my system would have remained trouble free. Thanks Michael |

Re: Software to manage hardware items
what you might want to do is
to have only the drivers installed and not the proprietary software. the software is usually crappy, bloated and spyware in disguised. the drivers is all that windows needs to run the hardware. you can test scan into graphics programs like mspaint with only the driver installed. -- db ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·..><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º>¸. ><)))º>·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º> .. How did the scanner and printers connect to the PC? Several PC on-board USB ports are maonly paired to a single USB Root Hub. If the scanner and printers all feed of the same USB Root Hub, then your PC may not be providing enough power over the USB ports. By adding self-powered USB hubs to the USB ports, this can solve most USB power problems. |

Re: Software to manage hardware items
I don't think that it's to do with the USB hubs. I did in actual fact use
the scanner from a different hub. Still, did not make any difference. Thanks anyway for the suggestion and will take this 'on board' if any further software issues arise. For example. My label printer was playing up not so long ago. Michael "smlunatick" <yveslec@gmail.com> wrote in message news:11641236-be15-4499-9247-ef1232fb3c62@d70g2000hsb.googlegroups.com...
