Exiting Standby Mode
Using XP Home SP3
Recently bought a new computer with XP Home SP3 installed. Old computer was the exact same OS with SP3. With old machine to restore desktop from standby mode all I had to do was move my mouse a little and it would immediately come alive. With my new computer, while in standby, if I move my mouse nothing happens. I've found that the only way I can restore to desktop is by pressing the on/off button on the box. How do I configure my new computer to allow me to just move my mouse or press any key on my key board to restore to the desktop just as I could do with my old machine? Thanks. |

Re: Exiting Standby Mode
You have to set each device (keyboard and mouse) to 'allow this device to
bring computer out of standby'. If you are allowing hibernation, only the power on button will bring it back on. How long you stay in standby before going into hibernation is another thing if you allow hibernation. Check power settings in control panel.
