desktop shortcut malfunction
I use WindowsXP. My shortcuts for my xl spreadsheets have started giving me
errors such as: can't find c:\documents.xls. I click ok and then it says: can't find c:\and.xls. I click ok and then it says: can't find c:\setting.xls. and so on. it continues on between each word in the pathname but the spreadsheet opens in the end. Does anyone know how to fix this? |

Re: desktop shortcut malfunction
In Folder Options, you will find a 'filetypes' tab, and the list of those.
Open the advanced properties of a filetype, and uncheck, apply, then recheck the setting for "DDE". This should toggle the registry setting you are having trouble with. -- Please use the Communities guidelines when posting. http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...help_en-us.htm Use the "Ratings" feature. RE: desktop shortcut malfunction
Now it does the same thing, but the spreadsheet doesn't open. After I
cleared "use DDE" and clicked apply, when I went back in, DDE was already re-checked. This is what is in the "application to perform action box". "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\EXCEL.EXE" %1. "Open" is my default. Got any other suggestions? Thx for your help. "cg" wrote: > I use WindowsXP.
