Problems with perfctrs.dll

I have a PC running WinXP SP3 and it appears the file "perfctrs.dll" has been
corrupted somehow as I cannot successfully back up the system state.

Any help on repairing/replacing this file would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problems with perfctrs.dll

Thanks for your reply. However, I'm not sure the article you linked applies
to WinXP or the condition it describes would cause a system state backup to
fail. The article states:

APPLIES TO
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit x86)
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition (32-bit x86)
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition

Re: Problems with perfctrs.dll

What are the error messages in the Event Log? Perhaps the counter is
only disabled?
