My Pictures Start Menu entry

Hi,

A friend has a problem with the above and so far I have not been able
to work out what is causing it, and so I am asking if anyone has had
the same problem and a fix.?

My same friend claimed that his computer was running slow when he went
into My Pictures. I tracked it down to just that, My Documents and
other entries on the menu work fine and very fast. I created a
shortcut which also works very fast. However the menu entry link for
My Pictures makes explorer.exe take the cpu for over 90% and does so
for 30 to 40 seconds or so.

AVG8 does not report any virus.

For now I've asked him to use my shorcut and removed the menu entry.
Is there a way I can replace the link in the menu with my shortcut ?,
or does anyone have a solution to this.?

TIA
Please remove obvious from email address if emailing.

See: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm

Scroll down to 'Start Menu' for instructions on how to remove entries from
the right-hand menu and how to add new shortcuts.

Re: My Pictures Start Menu entry

Thanks Iceman,

I really was looking as how to replace the offending link with one
that does not take all the cpu.
I know I can add shortcuts to the menu, but not as the 'special' My
Pictures link.

It is this I am trying to fix/replace.

Re: My Pictures Start Menu entry

Try something here:

Restore "My Documents", "My Pictures" and "My Music"
and the Desktop.ini file in these special folders:

Open the Run box and enter:
rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit

Reset the Shell Folders paths to defaults
