Command line start for windows search

I have an application where I generate multiple documents
(.doc,.xls,.pdf,etc.) all saved on \mydocuments\various folders. All file
names start with (or contain) a unique claim number. To find all documents
related to a claim, I now show the desktop, click on a "my documents" folder,
hit the search icon and put the claim number in the file name fillin.

I have VAB code that creates a claim controling Word.doc from corporate web
page data (I mine the web page data to prefill some note templates specific
to our office) and I insert claim data into a claim_log.xls.

I would like to embed a one button document search for this claim in the
word doc (hyperlink or a macro button-passing a claim number paramater) or in
the claim log.xls This method needs to become part of the VBA that creates
the claim.doc/Claim_log.xls entry.

I think what I want to launch is the Search Companion (we are running XP)
but I don't know the syntax and how to pass parameters to it or the best way
(or any way) to launch to search for files with a specific file name.

Any thoughts out there?

I was trying to post this to the Expert Zone Newsgroups but could'nt find it
in the list.
