VB 3 Crash under Vista

I'm using Visual Basic 3.0. running under Vista Ultimate. I'm running as
the Administrator. VB seems to work fine, except when I try to create a
..EXE. Then I get an alert box with this:

NTVDM.EXE has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available.

With a button labeled "Close program" as the only option.

Any ideas (other than "get a newer version") ?

- Bill

Have you tried setting NTVDM.EXE
compatibility mode under the exe properties?

I'd pick Windows 95.. I guess..

I tried setting compatibility modes for VB.EXE, as Windows 95. Same
failure.

You're not permitted to set compatibility mode for NTVDM.EXE itself. (or,
at least, I can't even as administrator)
