Money: Stops Responding When You Attempt to Download Online Updates

SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to download Online Updates in Microsoft Money 98 or Microsoft Money 99 or you attempt to synchronize financial information between Money 98 or Money 99 and MSN MoneyCentral, your computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if your computer cannot follow the redirected Web link for online quotes on the MSN MoneyCentral Web site.

RESOLUTION
You may be able to resolve this issue by downloading and installing the Money Quotes Fix update from the Microsoft Download Center. The Money Quotes Fix update modifies the Windows registry to change the Web address that Money uses to obtain online quotes.

NOTE: The Money Quotes Fix update may not resolve all instances of this issue. The Money Quotes Fix update resolves most instances of this issue with Money 99, but only some instances of this issue with Money 98.

Microsoft used the most current virus detection software available on the date of posting to scan this file for viruses. Once posted, the file is housed on secure servers that prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

MORE INFORMATION
Many of the MSN MoneyCentral Web addresses that are used by Money have changed since Money 98 and Money 99 were released.

The MSN MoneyCentral Web site is configured to instantly redirect requests for the old addresses to the new addresses. However, some computers cannot follow the redirected Web links.
