Word cannot save to a network share
Customer cannot save changes on a document to a network share
Checklist
1. What is the operating system?
2. What type of network are they running?
a. Netware
i. Novell client
ii. Microsoft client
b. Client for Microsoft Networks
i. NT server
ii. Peer to Peer
3. What Anti-Virus program are they running on the network server?
4. Are they saving to the server or another workstation?
5. Can they create a new file and save that to the network share?
6. Can they save the document as:
a. An .RTF file (Rich Text Format)?
b. As a different filename?
7. Is the customer using any Document Management Software?
Word Settings
Go to Tools - Options
8. Save tab: Is there a check by ‘Allow fast saves’?
9. Save tab: Is there a check by ‘Always create backup copy’?
10. File Locations tab: Which locations are set to remote drives?
11. Go to Tools – Templates and Add-ins: Are there any Global Templates selected?
