Fixes for Error applying transforms on Win NT/2000 systems.


1> Search the registry (regedt32.exe for NT or 2000, regedit.exe for Win9x) for ".mst" (without the quotes). Be sure to include the period and type mst in lowercase. Delete any regkeys you find. If you don't find it, try uppercase MST and tell me if that works.

2> Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (msicuu.exe for NT or 2000, msicu.exe for Win9x) from the Microsoft KB article Q238413 in order to remove the Windows Installer registry keys for Office 2000. Reinstall Office to replace these regestry keys.

3> If the first two steps do not resolve the issue, the customer will have to have their o/s restored. This means basically deleting and reinstalling Windows with an NT/2000 technician. Be sure to remind them to backup any data they want to save.
